George Forrest to Join Excipient Innovation Panel at CPHI Milan 2026
Manchester, United Kingdom — July 2026
Ibumix has confirmed that George Forrest, Co-Founder and CEO, will take part in a panel discussion at CPHI Milan 2026, one of the pharmaceutical industry’s largest global gatherings, taking place from 6–8 October 2026 at Fiera Milano, Italy.
George has been invited by the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council – Europe (IPEC-Europe) to join the panel session “Are Innovation and Excipients Mutually Exclusive?”, taking place in the Supply & Formulation Excellence theatre on 7 October, 11:45–12:30 CEST. The session will be moderated by Felicity Thomas, and George will be joined on the panel by representatives from Eli Lilly, KLK OLEO and Setylose.
The discussion will explore some of the questions at the centre of Ibumix’s own work: how excipients designed for purpose — rather than repurposed by accident — sit at the crossroads of regulation, return on investment and innovation; whether safety requirements are really a barrier to new formulation science, or a discipline it depends on; where the data gaps in excipient pharmacovigilance remain; and the case for clearer positive and negative lists of excipients and their approved routes of administration.
George Forrest, Co-Founder and CEO of Ibumix, commented:
“Excipients get treated as the supporting cast of a formulation, when in reality they’re very often what decides whether a molecule works at all. I’m looking forward to debating that with people from Lilly, KLK OLEO and Setylose — companies approaching the same problem from very different parts of the supply chain — and making the case that purpose-designed excipients aren’t a regulatory burden, they’re where a lot of the real innovation in pharma is actually happening.”
Beyond the panel, Ibumix will also be attending CPHI Milan more broadly, with a particular focus on the excipient, formulation and drug delivery zones of the exhibition floor — an opportunity to continue building relationships with the excipient suppliers, formulation specialists and potential licensing partners who make up its ecosystem.
CPHI Milan brings together an estimated 62,000 attendees, more than 2,900 exhibiting companies, and over 250 expert speakers across 130+ content sessions covering the full pharmaceutical supply chain. Ibumix will share further details of the panel, and how to attend, closer to the event.

Ibumix Patent Application for Lipophilic Drug Suspensions Published in Hong Kong
Manchester, United Kingdom — June 2026
Ibumix Ltd has confirmed that its patent application titled “Lipophilic Drug Suspensions” has been published by the Hong Kong Patent Office. The application, No. 42026119226.4, was published on 24 April 2026 under publication number 40131125, extending the company’s protection-seeking position into one of Asia’s most strategically important pharmaceutical and trade markets.
The publication marks the latest step in the international expansion of Ibumix’s intellectual property portfolio around its formulation platform. With publication, the application now establishes pending patent rights in Hong Kong — a recognised milestone that places third parties on notice of the invention and, should the application proceed to grant, allows damages to be assessed back to the publication date.
Why suspensions of lipophilic drugs matter
Between 70 and 90 per cent of new drug molecules entering development are poorly water-soluble. For this growing share of the pipeline, the limiting step is not the activity of the molecule but whether it can be delivered into the body at a useful, reproducible dose. Lipophilic — fat-loving — actives are among the hardest to formulate: they resist dissolution, they can precipitate when a concentrated formulation meets the aqueous environment of the body, and as suspensions they are prone to sedimentation, caking and inconsistent dosing.
The “Lipophilic Drug Suspensions” invention sits squarely on this problem. It belongs to the same body of work behind The Mix Platform — Ibumix’s approach to engineering lipid-based delivery systems that do more than dissolve a single active. By pairing carefully selected lipid components to control the behaviour of the suspended phase, the technology targets the failure modes that have historically made lipophilic suspensions difficult to commercialise: physical instability, unpredictable redispersion, and the trade-off between a stable product on the shelf and a bioavailable one in the patient.
For formulators, the appeal is practical. A suspension system that holds a lipophilic active in a stable, tuneable matrix opens format windows — oral, topical and beyond — that conventional surfactant-only approaches struggle to reach, while reducing the variability that complicates both manufacturing and clinical performance.
A growing international portfolio
The Hong Kong publication is part of a wider international patent family protecting Ibumix’s formulation technology. Hong Kong’s system allows applicants to secure protection that maps onto a designated parent application, giving innovators a route to defend their inventions across one of the region’s principal life-sciences and logistics hubs.
Securing position in Hong Kong reflects Ibumix’s view that the next generation of delivery science will be commercialised globally, and that the intellectual property underpinning it should travel with it. The company continues to build out coverage for its platform across key jurisdictions as its science moves from the lab into partner programmes.
What happens next
It is important to be clear about status. The Hong Kong application is published but not yet granted. Pending rights now exist, but enforcement is not available until a designated patent has been granted and that grant has been published in Hong Kong. To reach grant, a request for registration and grant must be filed within the statutory window tied to the parent application. Ibumix’s advisers are managing these deadlines, and the company will report further as the application progresses.
For Ibumix, the publication is both a procedural marker and a strategic one: confirmation that the science behind The Mix Platform is being protected with the same rigour with which it is being developed.
